With this modern-language adaptation of The Oresteia, I wanted to evoke the visual of Ancient Greek statues, and the director wanted a feeling of "resort-chic" for the House of Atreus, generic "service roles" for the Chorus, and that Cassandra be visually "other." Knowing that there would be a significant amount of live stage blood, I decided to dress the House of Atreus (Clytemnestra, Agamemnon, Iphegenia, Elektra, and Orestes) in white, and the chorus in sandy neutrals, with Cassandra in a deep teal. When the Chorus transitioned to be the Furies/the Jury in the final act, they entered wearing black versions of their earlier costumes, allowing only the white costumes of the leading characters to become dramatically bloodied.
